I am a spooky girly through and though.
To be raised a witch is a magical feeling–especially when October rolls around.
During holiday seasons, families usually have certain rituals, traditions, whatever you want to call them.
In fall, it was my family’s tradition to go apple picking, decorate, talk to the dead–you know, the usual.
As I’ve gotten older and am now on my own, I’ve started creating my own rituals that I’ve made my BF become a part of and eventually, our future family.
This not only includes apple picking but candy apple making, pumpkin carving, pumpkin seed baking, Halloween movie marathons, decorating, drink making, candy popcorn bowls, photo ops and honestly, more than our calendar can handle.
This year, I’m hosting a Halloween party. I know, just something else to add to the list.
However, I’m not just hosting a Halloween party, I’m hosting The Halloween Party of the Year.
This means I’m going to be doing a lot more than I usually would be and if I’m being for real, who’s got the time?

I’m actually considering skipping apple picking and all the edible goods that come with it this year. We’ll see.
But for now, I have my work cut out for me.
Before I left for Mexico over a week ago, I prepped our house for the season since I’d be away during Mabon.
Now that the situation has changed a bit, a lot more decorating is in order.
I’m a savvy shopper when I want to be. I’ve laid out a list of the places I’ll be searching for everything–in price order, which includes Amazon’s Prime Day.
Luckily, I have about 5 weeks to prepare, half of which includes shopping, decorating, and playlist mixing. The other half will be given to the usual rituals.
I spent the days before my trip planning the whole thing out to save the following weeks for pure execution and actually, what a time saver.
For the amount of time it took to create the invite, plan the decor, lighting, drinks, playlist, guest list, it would have stolen a week from me in October. And that’s just planning. I can’t imagine how it is to plan anything bigger.
This week is my first week back from Mexico and I spent my first day at home unpacking. Today, I’ll be caulking up my house against creepy crawlers. 2 days down.
Tomorrow is October 1st and invites will be going out.
What’s a girl to do in a time like this? Revel in it. Put as much energy into it as I’m going to get out; this will be a good party.
So, for now, I’ll leave you with the hype: I’ll post my Amazon shopping list in the weeks to come, playlists and more. This weekend I have to find my love his costume–it’s a costume party after all and we all know how Spirit Halloween gets this time of year.
Happy Mabon folks;
Happy Spooky Season.
